SUMMARY:Fraser Wayne - Acoustic\, Folk\, Country
DESCRIPTION:Born and raised in rural Ontario\, bandleader and songwriter\, Fraser\nWayne\, cut their teeth in the music world after moving to Montreal in\n2014 and forming seminal garage rock band\, The Fuzzy Undertones. Wayne\nwas an integral part of the underground music scene in Montreal for\nthe past 10 years before making the move back to Ontario to work on a\nfarm and form a backing band of Toronto country music legends dubbed\n“The Desert Eagles.” The resulting project breaks into some diverse\ninfluences\, ranging from traditional country\, Canadiana\, folk-rock\,\nspaghetti western soundtracks and more. The group\, including members\nof ROY\, Vypers\, OLGA\, Darryl Hannah\, and Easy Rider\, just released\ntheir debut record on June 13th\, 2026 (via Good Gourd Records). Fraser\nhas also collaborated with Kyle Popovich on a video series for the\nalbum\, with the latest instalment – Autumn Song – out now!\nA cowpoke of many hats – you can catch Fraser playing an intimate solo\nset at your local dive bar\, or headlining festivals with a full\nbacking band – always blending their country / rock n roll influences\nwith honest-to-the-bone lyricism. Wayne’s dedication to emotional\nauthenticity from a queer perspective\, has made them a mainstay in the\nburgeoning Toronto country music scene. With years of performing and\ntouring experience behind them\, including supporting slots for Hannah\nJuanita\, Spindrift\, The Sadies\, Li’l Andy\, Zachary Lucky\, and Bobby\nDove\, Fraser Wayne’s haunting\, gothic take on country and western is\nset to take no prisoners. \nLINKS:\nPainted Blue (music video):\nhttps://youtu.be/Xih3UMCah4o?si=xXgp6IEjwn9ehusJ \nAutumn Song (music video):\nhttps://youtu.be/Xih3UMCah4o?si=tVK9_xP-6QP1k6n8 \nLiving On The Road (music video):\nhttps://youtu.be/WnJ4IpRlpOk?si=2JpE6r820z-bXUsU \nFraser Wayne (LIVE) YouTube playlist:\nhttps://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhcGESwNpFdu5A_uMjJqeN4q-Z_Y7v6ag&si=Qia6mJ30wJ66fTSK \nFollow The Darkness Into The Light (full album – Bandcamp):\nhttps://fraserwayne.bandcamp.com/album/follow-the-darkness-into-the-light \nFollow The Darkness Into The Light (full album – streaming hyperlink):\nhttps://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/fraserwayne/follow-the-darkness-into-the-light \nAlbum review by Jammerzine:\nhttps://jammerzine.com/fraser-wayne-and-the-desert-eagles-follow-the-darkness-into-the-light\n“Fraser Wayne and the Desert Eagles have made a country record for\npeople who enjoy horror movies\, dive bars\, abandoned highways\, and the\nuncomfortable realization that hope and despair are basically\nroommates who split the rent. While countless artists continue chasing\nthe aesthetic of authenticity\, this band simply wanders into the\ndarkness carrying a lantern and somehow returns with one of the year’s\nmost rewarding records.” – Jammerzine \nInterview w/ FLEX music blog:\nhttps://www.flexmusicblog.com/post/interview-w–fraser-wayne\n“Drawing from Canadiana\, folk-rock\, gothic country and spaghetti\nwestern influences\, the record explores grief\, resilience and the\nenduring possibility of hope. Accompanied by an ambitious series of\ninterconnected music videos culminating in a horror-inspired short\nfilm\, the album represents Fraser Wayne’s most expansive artistic\nstatement to date.” – FLEX \nAlbum review + interview w/ Music Crowns:\nhttps://www.musiccrowns.org/interviews/interview-fraser-wayne-and-the-desert-eagles/\n“Backed by the rich\, textured instrumentation of the Desert Eagles\,\nWayne navigates the complex\, shadowy valleys of human the emotion\, as\nthe listener is pulled into an atmospheric\, cinematic landscape that\nfeels both timeless and personal. Ultimately\, Follow the Darkness into\nthe Light is a beautifully bruised record that rewards listeners\nunafraid to confront the shadows.” – Music Crowns \n“Living On The Road” single review + interview w/ Psychedelic Baby Magazine:\nhttps://www.psychedelicbabymag.com/2026/05/living-on-the-road-with-fraser-wayne-and-the-desert-eagles.html\n“This day and age\, it’s hard to be an outlaw. But in their own special\nway\, Fraser Wayne & The Desert Eagles have forged their own path. And\nI hope they’ve got many years of ‘Living On The Road’ ahead of them.”\n– Psychedelic Baby Magazine \n“Autumn Song” + “Painted Blue” double single review + interview w/\nCanadian Beats:\nhttps://canadianbeats.ca/2026/01/29/fraser-wayne-the-desert-eagles-autumn-song-painted-bluedouble-single-review-interview\n“While “Painted Blue” is about the city’s cold isolation\, “Autumn\nSong” is where “The Spectre” starts to haunt the edges of the frame.\nIt wrestles with that familiar seasonal dread—the heavy feeling when\nthe days get short—but there’s a stubborn warmth buried in the lyrics.\nWayne balances mundane stresses like breaking dishes with a\nsupernatural resolve to keep the “sun in his heart” as Halloween\nlooms. It’s the perfect introduction to The Spectre; it feels ethereal\nand haunting\, yet grounded in a very human refusal to let the winter\ntake his soul. If The Cowboy is the one wandering\, The Spectre is the\nspirit holding onto the light in the dark.” – Canadian Beats
