Bill Wallace
William Wallace, the artistic wizard, has spent over 30 spellbinding years conjuring up sculptural musical instruments. With a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and an MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, he’s a master of artistic alchemy. In Chicago, he rocked the scene with MASS, crafting funky drum sculptures and radically inovative longstring instruments. He even brewed up a choreographed drumming style, “Action Drumming,” while collaborating with Jellyeye using 12 colossal wheeled drums that he desinged and fabricated. Vancouver was his next labratory as he fabricated all new instuments and scupltures for his band SWARM, unleashing invented instrument theatre and rhythmic revelry that spread like wildfire across North America for 15 electrifying years. Now, he’s the maestro behind the Squamish Sound Mill Society, an artist collective, and weaving his magic anew with the enigmatic “Trickster’s Hideout.”
