Her songs balance raw lyrical honesty with rich, warm vocals and nuanced arrangements, creating performances that feel like both a diary entry and a heart-to-heart with a friend. Her forthcoming album, Before the Hour’s Up (out August 29, 2025), explores the many manifestations of longing—longing for connection, for change, for understanding. The record is named after its closing track, which reflects the desire for all of life’s issues to be solved in the span of a single therapy session, only to face the truth that emotions and questions rarely resolve so easily. The album carries threads of melancholy, resilience, and clarity, touching on identity, relationships, and the subtle ache of time passing. Collaborating with artists like Sam Lynch and Cassie Dasilva, Burwell found new creative depths through a woman-to-woman songwriting process, resulting in tracks that are both cathartic and deeply resonant. Marissa’s journey began with her self-titled debut EP in 2019, followed by her first full-length album Bittersweet in 2022. Formed in 2016 by Vancouver music veterans Tom Taylor, Colin Nairne, and Wendy Bird—and now joined by Alli Lyde-Stad and David Hughes—The Radio Grande delivers songs that are both fresh and familiar, blending storytelling with timeless sound.
