What is Ecstatic Dance?
Ecstatic dance is free form dance & movement to achieve a meditative state. This natural state of being, pure existence – allowing your body to exist without judgment or rules of shape and space – shifts your awareness of self and can create a euphoric, calming feeling which can allow your mind to enter an ecstatic state of happiness.
Allow your body to feel the music flow through it and feel the beat of the drums echo from within. The deep rich tones of the drums will take you deep within and help you discover yourself as your heart beat connects to the rhythms.
The first 20 minutes William Wallace will host a short drum tutorial to learn a rhythm, if you feel inspired to drum throughout the dance. There will be some drums available for use.
Bring your own drum if you have one and would like to drum and/or learn!
Dance Temple Squamish has been hosting their ecstatic dances every month and always provides a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment of love and acceptance. It is a safe space for you to truly express yourself.
This is a ticketed event, ADVANCE REGISTRATION strongly recommended. Trickster’s Hideout will be closed to the public to provide a safe and private event.
